Thêm -s, -es, -ies và những danh từ đổi hẳn hình. Tiếng Việt không đánh dấu số nên phải học có ý thức.

Hai cách nói "của": tính từ sở hữu đứng trước danh từ, và dấu ’s gắn vào người sở hữu.

Thì dùng nhiều nhất khi kể về mình. Cả bài xoay quanh một chữ: chữ -s của ngôi thứ ba.

Tiếng Việt có /t/ cuối nhưng KHÔNG bật hơi — ngậm miệng lại là xong. Sang tiếng Anh, người học giữ nguyên thói quen đó nên 'light' nghe thành 'lai', 'need' thành 'ni'. Nặng hơn: mất /d/ là mất luôn thì quá khứ.

Cùng lỗi không bật hơi như /t/. Riêng /g/ cuối thì tiếng Việt hoàn toàn không có, nên 'bag' hay thành 'bát' — vừa mất tiếng rung vừa thành /k/.

/p/ cuối tiếng Việt không bật hơi; /b/ cuối thì không tồn tại. Kết quả: 'job' thành 'chóp', 'club' thành 'cláp'.

Đây là lỗi tốn kém nhất. Tiếng Việt không có phụ âm rít ở cuối, nên 'cats' thành 'cát', 'works' thành 'guộc'. Người nghe mất thông tin số nhiều và ngôi thứ ba — nghe ra câu sai ngữ pháp chứ không phải giọng lạ.

Tiếng Việt không có /f/ /v/ ở cuối từ. 'Half' thành 'ha', 'love' thành 'lớp' hoặc 'lơ'. Riêng /v/ cuối rất hay bị bỏ hẳn.

Người Việt biến /l/ cuối thành nguyên âm: 'call' thành 'co', 'school' thành 'sư-cun', 'well' thành 'oeo'. Lưỡi không hề chạm lợi.

Bàn thẻ úp: một nửa là chữ, một nửa là tranh minh hoạ. Ghép được từ với tranh của nó thì cặp đó mở hẳn, giúp bạn nhớ từ bằng cả mặt chữ lẫn hình ảnh.
